Semen needs to be stored at approximately 63 degrees Fahrenheit. There are multiple different ways to achieve this.
- Wine Cooler – This is a cost-effective way to properly store the semen. Make sure you read the instructions on how the cooler works, because some do not have heaters if the temperature falls below 63 to bring it back. We suggest to keep these in the house or a temperature controlled office.
- Semen Cooler – This is an investment but a great way store multiple doses of semen.
- Basement – if you have a basement that stays in the low 60’s, that is a great, cheap option.
DO NOT store the semen in the refrigerator or freezer. Cold temperature can shock the semen. Also keep the semen out of direct sunlight.
We strongly suggest that however you store the semen, to also have a thermometer with it as a back up to double check the temperatures and properly monitor the environment.
