It’s no secret that Shaffer’s Gold Rush loves Hampshire hogs — specifically elite Hampshire hogs — and working with great people. We absolutely loved the video of this boar from his NSR Draft entry, but once Lynsee headed out to Diel’s and saw him in person, the excitement went to another level. She called back and said, “Unbelievable. Phenomenal. Must own.”

We were beyond excited to get him headed to Gold Rush, and afterward, when Miles shared that this was the last boar his dad was a part of, we knew he had become even more special. Sometimes the best things don’t need overcomplicated names or stories. Sometimes you just keep it simple and carry on a legacy.

His name is Joe.

Joe is backed by incredible genetics, but one look at him tells you everything you need to know. He is the kind that can change a sale barn and impact a breed. His elite presence is unmatched. His bone work, muscle pattern, squareness, flexibility, and ability to move with authority and comfort are all superior.
Quite simply, Joe is as impressive as they come. We venture to say he is one of the most exciting and unique Hampshire boars we have laid eyes on in a very long time.
